CHESTNUT - Variations are Bright, Liver or Dark Chestnut.
Chestnut is one of the most striking of all horse colours.

A beautiful, bright rich coppery hue which can vary from almost "orange" to dark "liver" or brown in nature.

Chestnuts do not have any colour markings other than white. Click on the link if you would like a brief explanation of the most common Horse Markings. The chestnut coat has an almost irridescent quality giving it a superb shine in the sun.

Have you ever seen a chestnut with a "flaxen" or pale cream mane and tail? This contrasts beautifully with their red coat and is sometimes referred to as "Sorrel". This colour is well demonstrated in the Welsh Cob Breed.
