Our First Entry in the Horse Diary!

May 2009

Here is the first of many horse diary entries as we track the progress of our lovely new baby!

Well, we have had Ruby for just 2 weeks and already she has improved so much. She is handled daily which is helping her become more confident with people.

She was quite a shy little person when we had her but this is giving way to natural inquisitiveness and a surprisingly deep voice for such a small creature that greets us each time she sees us!

As you will see from the picture on the introductory page, Ruby still has quite a lot of her baby coat. She had her second ever bath on Thursday and stood like a pro!

Ruby is fed mainly on haylage with a small amount of concentrates (soaked sugar beet, cool mix and some chaff). She is gradually gaining weight and is kept rugged day and night to help her keep condition - British weather being slightly unpredictable at this time of year!

Ruby has lots of fans already and we are looking forward to having fun getting to know her properly. The next update will look at our daily routine for Ruby and how she is becoming accustomed to all the sights and sounds of her new home.

We will also add new photos regularly so you can judge her progress for yourself! Don't forget to pop back at the end of June for the next instalment! Return to our main Horse Diary page for the latest "Ruby" updates!
